WaterPolo in Winchester

The newly-formed Winchester Water Polo club is looking for juniors who want to come along and have a lot of fun learning to play waterpolo. No prior experience required. The newly-formed Winchester Water Polo club is looking for juniors who are competent swimmers (preferably able to swim 100m in 1:30) with any level of water polo experience. This especially includes those who have never tried water polo before. These sessions will be led by experienced, qualified coaches and former international players (see "Who we are" page), who also coach the County and Regional teams, so you will receive the best possible coaching advice and guidance.  As you improve you may well be invited to train with the respective men’s and women’s senior squads as well.  Southampton Sirens train on a Monday night from 8-10pm at Winchester Sport and Leisure Park. We are always looking for new members, irrespective of experience, provided they are aged at least 16 and are competent swimmers. The first hour of the session focuses on improving speed, strength, stamina and ball skills, while the second hour of the session focuses on shooting, tactics and game play. We welcome players who also play for another local club but want to improve more quickly, as well as swimmers who want to have a go at water polo.  Southampton Water Polo Club’s men’s squad are training on a Thursday night. We enter two teams in the Hampshire League, as well as the British Water Polo League, and various other local ‘fun’ tournaments and Veterans’ events (over 40s and over 50s.) We will play our home matches in Winchester on Thursday nights. If there is sufficient demand, we will also run extra sessions for novice and developing players, either in Winchester or Southampton. To attend any of these sessions you will need to join Southampton Water polo club, which costs £35 per month and entitles you to train in Southampton on a Tuesday as well as Winchester on a Thursday (plus £3 for Swim England membership if you are not already in a swim club.)
